As a native of New Jersey, I must say that I do not do very well in the heat. And for me to stay cool at home, I have to keep the thermostat at 65 degrees or colder - something I can not afford, and not to mention, is not so great for the environment.

Last week you learned how to keep your energy bills down during the hot season. This week, here are some ways to keep cooler.

The first trick is my favorite. Less cooking means less heat. Being 28 and single, this thing cook together does not always work for me anyway, but the heat in the summer gives me an excuse to cook even less.So try to store your fridge with food that does not require you to heat up the stove or oven, as pre-cooked chicken that can be used in salads or sandwiches. A roast chicken can go a long way.
